3:10 to Yuma

OVERVIEW

3:10 to Yuma (1957, Dir. Delmer Daves) exhibits extraordinarily rich Black and White (“black and light”) photography and clean, uncluttered production design. The soundtrack has detailed, carefully crafted sound effects editing and sound mixing, to a degree that exceeds the contemporary norms for monaural tracks. While widescreen spectacles in the ‘50’s necessarily demanded multichannel stereo tracks, lower-scale dramas could settle for less craftsmanship than we have here.
