Hal Kern 1939 Editing "Gone With The Wind", for which he won an Academy Award

Kern began in 1915, editing for the Thomas Ince studios, then for Joseph M. Schenck, one of the film industry’s earliest businessmen. Kern then spent most of his editing career at MGM. He won the Best Film Editing Oscar for Gone With the Wind (1939), which he shared with Associate Editor James Newcom. The assistant editors were Ernie Leadlay and Richard Van Enger.
