Moviola is in “take-up” configuration, using film and sound wound on reels. The other common mode of Moviola editing is “cutter” configuration, without the reels, when the editors handled small rolls of film and soundtrack in their hand.

Note the typewriter. I can guess that the young woman is spotting lines of dialogue that may need to be looped, and she’s typing up cue sheets for the looping stage.
